Hey Friends of TassenKuchen!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! You helped us have a great opening week at TassenKuchen. Thank you for showing up and giving us your continued support. And if you are new to TK, welcome and thank you for coming in and trying us out.
We enjoyed the past 4 days tremendously and surprisingly things went fairly smoothly. There were a few sticking points, as are to be expected… the espresso machine went on the fritz the first morning I turned it on. ( A couple “reboots” and it is now cooperating.) The refrigerated display case is not working so now it is just a big warm show window. (But I am hoping it is nothing too serious.) We decided not to try out our used dishwasher because we would need to hire a service man to hook it up and that would cost us 200€ just to have him show up. And the machine is the Rolls Royce of dishwashers. (read: replacement parts are a fortune!!) So we decide to buy another kind and offer ours up on ebay….fortunately we paid very little for it.
Surprisingly also is how smoothly things went in the kitchen! We were able to bake lots of delicious (hopefully) goods: muffins, scones, cookies, biscotti, cupcakes, cheesecake, a tea loaf, a tomato zucchini tart, mac ‘n cheese and a couple soups. And today we had our first “All-you-can-eat Pancake Brunch”. It went really well and was lots of fun! We look forward to even more guests next Sunday. We open up the back room and people can sit around the big table (4 meters long!) and enjoyed the company of friends and make some new friends in a family style, breakfast atmosphere. Keep it in mind and join us.
So here are some pics from the past few days. We got lots of compliments on the café…we’re glad you like it. It is still a work in progress.
The first order arrived on Wednesday…
